Youth Zone

The Thanington Youth Club has a 246 square metre Youth Space with a Table Tennis table, Pool Tables, Games Consoles, Dart Boards, Television, and a small Tuck Shop. All staff and volunteers are DBS checked (Disclosures and Barring Service, formerly CRB). We ensure that male and female members of staff are available during all youth sessions and on all trips.

Our young people have enjoyed a variety of activities from climbing, water skiing, trips to theme parks, Go Karting, and an interactive summer programme. We strive to make the Youth Club a 'Safe Space' for everyone who attends and their time at TYC as enjoyable and inclusive as possible, through fun in-club activities, long term projects, and trips to off site activities. The Youth Club is open only to Thanington residents. Our Youth Space and facilities are fully accessible and our staff are trained to respond to a wide variety of individual needs.

As a Youth Work Team we can also provide various resources and help for a number of different needs, including: Help with CVs, Passport applications, Driving Licence applications, Driving Test Theory and Hazard Awareness, and we also have a Homework Club with access to PCs, Printers, and internet resources, with informal support and assistance for young people aged 9 to 17. We can offer signposting to organisations providing support and advice on a number of issues affecting young people, such as, Employment, Education and Training, Drug and Alcohol problems, Housing and Homelessness, and Health and Wellbeing. The Youth Work team are happy to provide appropriate additional help and support on many issues facing TYC members.

We take great pride in our youth committee, which is consistently driving TYC forward through member led representation on issues effecting young people and the club as a whole such as planning activities, and consultation on policy and procedure, whilst providing a forum for all youth club members to have their voice listened to. Every Youth Club Member has the opportunity to elect or join the Youth Committee, Youth Club Members are encouraged to take an active role within the running and future of TYC, helping TYC to continue to represent the needs of the Young People and the community we serve.
